ABOUT THE VIDEO:

$500 and a night terror, basically. When we finished recording the song, I knew we had to shoot a video for it. After 2 months of preproduction we were ready for the big day. 1 long day. 30 crew members and 30 zombies scattered across Miami. From Hialeah to Coconut Grove, we painted the streets blood red. Well, corn syrup and red-food-coloring red. We had 3 make up artists and 3 wardrobe stylists working in unison to transform 30 people into some scary ass zombies.

Thankfully, working in the film industry, I’ve been able to gain many talented friends who knew how to help me make it cheap and make it dope. We had 3 units - each one with a director of photography, associate producer, assistant director, camera assistant, prop master and production assistant. And my mom did lechon, congri and yuca with onions for lunch.

You can pretty much do whatever the hell you want on this planet if you… plan it. The 2 months of preproduction: scheduling, scouting, blocking shots- that was the trick to making it all happen. And if you’re wondering why Iron Ora isn’t in the video.. he is! You can find him in the background of the shopping mall scene. I don’t remember why KEMS wasn’t there but he was in spirit. I played the roll of my mom in the living room scene… thankfully I have the legs of a 50 year old woman. There were some amazing personal cameos too. From childhood homies to close friends in the film industry to absolute strangers- everyone came through.

1 year after filming, I still couldn’t get in contact with the original editor but luckily we had triple back ups and my cinema hero Pep from Hungry Ants Productions came through yet again and made it happen. Once he got his hands on the footage, he was able to edit it all together quickly thanks to the shot list. He followed it like a blue print.

+++ The story behind "Moving Targets" +++

The duo knew each other since 2017, when DJ Grazzhoppa worked out some of the scratching hooks on the music of Chillow. The vibe and dynamic was set there. After spending some time in the studio, it seemed obvious they had to work out more music together due their similar and matching style.

Both knew a bunch of rap veterans from New York / New Jersey that got excited. Doing a project like this over the internet was a 'no go' due Chillow his principle: 'no studio time together = no music together'. So the duo created a stock of music and demo's in Belgium for the go. With barely 800 euros in his bankaccount, Chillow decided to travel to New York and stayed there for 2 to 3 months.

When the money ran out, he had to come up with an idea to get some bread. Through his social media, he offered budget photography and videography for "New York" rappers. A lot of his friends and rappers offered a place to stay. In this way he could continue the journey in search of interested artists. When he returned to Belgium, the duo finished the production and mix together. They teamed up with graphic designer/record collector Tom De Geeter (Crate Records Kortrijk) for the 'artwork' and with DVL - photographer and member of Afterhours. Both are hip-hop fanatics. Everything seemed to work out smoothly, all pieces fell right into place. It just took a while to finance the entire project.

The complete album is set to release early summer 2023.

PFM & Iron Ora - Space [Full Version] (Official Video)

 

Real life can extinguish a rap career in the blink of an eye and that is exactly what happened in 2012 to PFM and Iron Ora’s criminally overlooked release. Originally released on Miami based label Hoverock Records, Pomegranate Sunset is a South Florida classic that lost steam shortly after its release as families began to grow and other “life” obstacles took over.

This project harkens back to a time when the selling points weren’t the guest spots or outside production credits and focused more on the in-house talents of the crew.

The entire project is produced by Iron Ora with the exception of one track (I Came To Kill The Babysitter by DJ Manipulator) and the whole album only features two other MC’s (Mr. Christopher and Lumin) each of which are part of the Hoverock family.

Some people will classify this as some classic boom bap and while it is certainly rooted in that ethos, Pomegranate Sunset is the signature document from PFM & Iron Ora which takes those original principles and expands on them as only the finest from the 305 and 954 can.

This is an extremely well-crafted mélange of to the point and abstract lyricism accompanied by Iron Ora’s jazzy sample palette and hard hitting drum patterns.

Mad Good Records and Hoverock have teamed up for the first official physical release of Pomegranate Sunset. WTFUW4!!!
