UK based Nigerian Hip-Hop legend Modenine, soulful vocalist Maka and visionary producer Black Intelligence join forces for "Thereafter" — a collaborative album built on reflection, resilience and rebirth. Blending razor-sharp lyricism, emotive melodies and lush experimental production, Thereafter delivers a timeless listening experience that transcends trends and speaks to struggle, healing, endings and new beginnings.
On their latest single and video for “My Skin Is Black (Remix),” Modenine delivers sharp, reflective verses about identity, resilience and pride in Black heritage. Maka adds a smooth, emotive vocal layer that deepens the song’s introspective feel, while Black Intelligence contributes production that blends mellow jazz-soul elements with classic boom-bap. The remix elevates the original with richer harmonies and a more polished, atmospheric sound, turning it into a powerful anthem of self-affirmation and cultural pride.
Isoneph is an electronic music project started in 2011 by Mario Buoninfante, an Italian musician based in London, UK.
Over the years, the project has branched out into different directions, always maintaining its roots in beats, dub, and heavy bass music, while also exploring the more experimental corners of the electronic music world.
Alternate Rhythms is the result of two years exploring stripped-down, minimalist forms, and focusing on bass, rhythm and space. While the concept of ‘beats’ is central, space and time play an equally important role, projecting the work onto a more experimental plane, where samplers and a mix of synthetic and electric bass form the foundation, and keys and synths cast a ‘dub shadow’ over a bed of beats and glitches.
The work features two sides: Part One (‘Outset’), completed first and initially considered a standalone work, and Part Two (‘Transliteration’), which includes tracks begun concurrently or even earlier in time, but initially left unfinished. As part of a broader phase of introspection and reflection triggered by personal events, a re-evaluation of the tracks that comprise Part Two revealed similarities between the two sides, with an unexpected similarity in structure both at the track and side levels. It’s as if the two clusters of four tracks had developed along parallel time streams.
Alternate Rhythms now available on Cassette and CD via
“They Don’t Care” brings together a powerhouse lineup of lyricists to speak on the realities we’re living in—government failures, social injustice, and the voices that get ignored every day. Sampling Michael Jackson’s iconic line “All I wanna say is that they don’t really care about us,”
This track is a modern anthem for the unheard.
This visual dives deep into the emotions, struggles, and urgency behind the message. Every verse hits with raw honesty, calling out the systems that continue to fail communities. If you believe in speaking truth to power, this one is for you.
