With their signature blend of soulful samples, powerful drums, and precise scratches, SoulRocca once again delivers an uncompromising underground sound. While Smiley The Ghetto Child impresses with his raw street energy on the first track, Wildelux – a Bronx native and Japanese by choice – delivers reflective lyricism with a global vibe on the second track.

Known for their uncompromising love of golden-era hip-hop, Boogiedown Base and 12 Finger Dan have established themselves as SOULBROTHA – with collaborations with DJ Premier, Large Professor and Blaq Poet among others.

Roccwell, the Munich-based member of the crew, has been a fixture in the international boom-bap world since his solo album "Still Lovin' Boombap" and the collaboration "Chocolate Bars" with Harlem's own Emma Lee M.C. (feat. Masta Ace & Bahamadia).

Mad Good Records is proud to reissue Contaminated Dance Step, the 2002 debut EP from Meanest Man Contest (Erik Solo and Quarterbar), newly remastered and available for the first time on cassette.  

Originally released as a 7-inch on Erik Solo’s vinyl-centric Weapon-Shaped label, this collage-like hip-hop record laid the foundation for the Oakland duo’s experimental sound, which evolved through full-length albums Merit (Plug Research, 2002) and Everything Worth Mentioning (Gold Robot, 2013), along with a steady stream of EPs, singles, and remixes throughout the 2000s and 2010s.

Contaminated Dance Step captures MMC’s raw, inventive energy, merging abstract, sample-heavy beats with biting lyrics that critique capitalism and dissect fractured relationships.

Mad Good’s cassette reissue features remastered versions of all four original tracks — Parts 1 and 2 of both “Contaminated Dance Step” and “Feelin’ Pretty Psyched (About Love)” — plus three bonus songs from rare vinyl releases and compilations: “Sexy Rap Proposition,” “E.W.M.,” and “The Sour Gourmet.” Instrumental versions of each track round out the release.

BLAME ONE is an MC, graffiti writer and b-boy from San Diego, California. Over the course of his almost thirty-year career as a rapper, he has released seven solo albums and several EPs as well as participating in various groups and collectives. DO call it a comeback! After no less than 22 years Vienna’s veteran beat maestros Urbs & Cutex release their third album "On Our Way". Full of laid-back vibes and dope beats this surprising release finds them in fine form, staying true to their trademark sound while subtly expanding and evolving to create a unique blend of HipHop and Downtempo.

Urbs & Cutex are a duo from Vienna specialising in laid-back instrumental music that combines classic East Coast Hip Hop with elements of Triphop and Downtempo. Both started out as DJs in the early 90s making their first steps in production separately before connecting to form what is considered one of the defining groups out of Vienna’s rich electronic scene of the period. The two albums released in the early 2000s are being rediscovered by new generations of listeners and have accumulated millions of plays on various streaming platforms. After a hiatus of 22 years, several solo albums and dozens of singles, remixes and collaborations they join forces again to find their mojo still fully intact, continuing exactly where they had stopped two decades earlier.

With charming stubbornness they create music that will sound retro to some and timeless to others. "We search for everlasting truths" they calmly state. The album begins with the familiar style of their 2003 album "Peace Talks!", combining soulful and jazzy loops with dope Hip Hop beats, even surprising us with what is the first rap part on any of their albums courtesy of New York’s T.R.A.C. (of Visioneers fame). A few songs in the style evolves into something new and entirely unique, as they use elaborate arrangements and artful layering of samples to create songs that go beyond mere loops prevalent in Hip Hop.

Over the duration of 14 tracks Urbs & Cutex expertly balance uplifting moments with deep and hypnotic sequences. They create a laid-back atmosphere but manage to avoid the dullness of chillout music and the stale uniformity of modern Lo-fi and Boom Bap
